Listening to: "Rock with You" - Michael Jackson
Remember that I mentioned I had made some notes about my story? Well, I managed to write and revise some more. But just when I'm starting to like how it's coming out I'm hit with a brick wall. See, I had this plan on how I'd do it, only I ended up adding a small detail out of the blue--and I like it so much!-- but now I'm stuck on how to continue to the point I need to get to. So now I am faced with the desicion to either take it out completely, or find a way to squeeze it in somehow. I'm baffled and it sucks.
Anyway, I'm going to deal with it tomorrow either way. I have to get ready for bed. My dad wants me to go to sleep early tonight, you see.
Oh, and Happy Halloween everyone! Not many people celebrate it here in Brasil. Maybe it's better that way-- I always hated being startled anyway, especially since it's so darn easy to startle me. Just a simple "boo" works. Ridiculous!

I know exactly how you feel! You plan out the next bit of your story, and then a new but significant idea comes to mind, and it throws you off, because it changes what you had planned.
I had that happen to me, way back in chapter three. I had my character saying something which gave away a bit of what my story's about. I wasn't sure to keep the piece or not, and struggled to decide for a while. Eventually, I just decided to keep it in. It didn't change the storyline, and inspired some scenes later on.
So it all depends on how much your new idea will alter your story. But just because it's different doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. If you keep it in there, you may find it improves on ideas you had.
Perhaps you should:
1). Keep the new idea in the story
2). ALSO keep your notes of how you wanted the story to go BEFORE the idea
3). Continue writing with the idea in the story.
4). If you don't like where it's going, take out the idea, go back to where you were in the story, and start over from that point without the idea, using your notes to help you out.
Try it! As for the brick wall of what to write next...can't help you on that, sorry. It's different for each and every writer and story. My advice is to try to figure out what idea or part is giving you difficulty, and try to smash the brick wall from there on.
Happy Halloween!
